Kim Kardashian wears Princess Diana's iconic cross necklace

Kim Kardashian She's no stranger to archival fashion and seems to have a passion for collecting previously untouchable pieces – after all, who could forget her? Marilyn Monroe Met Gala dress? In the last few months alone, the reality TV star has found success showed a white corset from Mugler's spring 1998 couture collection as well as the Archive ensemble worn by Janet Jackson in the video for the singer's 1993 single “If.” No vintage item is safe from Kardashian's credit card, and nothing proves that more than her recent purchase.

Last night she wore another piece of fashion history, this time at the 2024 LACMA Art + Film Gala. When Kardashian stepped out at the charity event at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, she walked the red carpet wearing one of Princess Diana's most famous necklaces the piece is public for the first time since Princess.

For the occasion, Kardashian wore a white Gucci dress with a plunging neckline that reached almost to her belly button. The dress's dramatic cut made room for an elaborate stack of necklaces, including a chunky pearl choker, a pearl necklace and the late princess's “Attallah Cross” pendant. Featuring square-cut amethysts and round diamonds (weighing 5.25 carats), the cross necklace served as the centerpiece of her look, although the design of the jewelry also seemed to evoke Diana's own aesthetic.

Kardashian completed her ensemble with an ivory cape-style coat that fell over her shoulders. She leaned into the vintage feel of her look by styling her dark hair into a medium-length bob with folded ends and letting a single curl sweep across her forehead. Her glam included a nude lip gloss as well as a shimmery purple eyeshadow that matched her purple pendant.

The Flies over The founder purchased the Attallah Cross necklace at a Sotheby's auction in London in 2023, paying a whopping $197,453 for the jewelry – double its pre-auction estimate. Diana wore the pendant several times, most notably with a pearl necklace at the 1987 Birthright Charity Gala, where she paired it with her purple velvet Catherine Walker dress.
