Porsche releases the new 911 Turbo in the German configurator

Porsche has been on the rise lately, introducing several new vehicles and special editions this year, and that isn't slowing down any time soon. We've already seen the base 911 and GTS updated for 2025, followed shortly after by the 911 GT3 992.2 and then the 911 T. Next up is the facelifted Turbo model. Thanks to a bug in the German market configurator that was first noticed by local car spotter Ari, Porsche has accidentally revealed the design of the upcoming 911 Turbo, or at least part of it. Ari discovered the leak in the visualizer for the regular 911 Carrera's cruise control option, but it's clearly a turbo model with quad exhaust pipes and very wide rear spoilers. Porsche has since removed the error from its configurator, but you can still see it in the Instagram post at the end of this article.

Updated design in line with the 992.2 facelift

Unfortunately, only the rear of the car was exposed and the image is not of the highest resolution, but we can still clearly see some changes. The rear bumper has been significantly refreshed, with the license plate recess being slightly more pronounced. Also new are the upright air outlets at both ends of the bumper, which replace the square air outlets on the 992.1. However, the exhaust pipes are now square and the diffuser section has become chunkier.

The rarest Porsche 911 special editions in existence

If you own one of these, you will win in life.

There are still horizontal reflectors and we can expect the front end to feature the latest Porsche headlights, with the turn signals housed in the main clusters, along with slight updates to the front fascia. On paper it appears to be a very subtle facelift, but no one will mistake this look for an older model when they see the car in person. Porsche has found a way to evolve the 911's design with seemingly perfect restraint, but that shouldn't surprise anyone.

Incoming hybrid power

A week ago, Porsche announced that the 2025 911 Turbo would share Varta battery technology with the latest GTS model, effectively confirming that the 992.2 Turbo will feature hybrid power in the new model year. It remains to be seen whether the Turbo will remain a twin-turbocharged engine or whether it will get a single electric turbo like the GTS. However, we suspect the former is more likely for the 992.2, with an entirely new setup for the next generation.

With the images already making their way into the configurators, a reveal may not be too far away. We expect the new model to launch in early 2025, if not before the end of this year. In the meantime, Porsche continues to offer the 911 Turbo 50th Anniversary.
