Ian Roland “The Beacon” – Americana UK

Check out Ian Roland's third single from 2024. “The Beacon” is another beautiful tune that reflects the beautiful landscapes Roland sings about. His words show a real connection between Roland and nature, an affinity and respect that he effectively conveys to the listener. Roland's pure singing voice takes center stage “The Beacon” and his range and melody are particularly impressive when he hits the high notes in the chorus. There are subtle changes in tempo and a full sound thanks to Roland's talented collaborators, particularly Simon Yapp on violin and viola and Mishkin Fitzgerald who provides piano, keyboards and backing vocals. Dave Coomber on bass and James Chapman on drums complete the line-up and provide captivating rhythms.

Roland says about the song: “This song is a tribute to the Adonis Blue butterfly and the landscape of the South Downs National Park near Hassocks, UK, and celebrates the essential beauty of nature, whose web sustains all life, including our own. “We must preserve it. It was in 1970 when Joni Mitchell sang, “They paved paradise and built a parking lot,” and since then we have more than 50 years of scientific evidence highlighting the destruction caused by the fossil fuel industry. It costs a lot of money to divert our attention from this issue, but it is inevitable and will affect us all, no matter how many billions of dollars have been invested in media disinformation, political influence, division and unrest. to try and muddy the waters.” Indeed. Roland's poignant music provides a welcome connection to the beauty of these landscapes and reminds us of their importance. Enjoy.
