How to vote in Alabama: How do I find my polling place?

November 4th is election day, when voters decide on the next US president.

Polls in Alabama open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Information about your votes can be found on the Secretary of State's website.

Go here and enter your first and last name and date of birth. Press “Enter” and you will be taken to your polling place name and number, its address, and a map. The same page includes a drop-down menu that shows your districts for all city, county, state and national races.

Alabama requires voters to show ID at the polling place. Acceptable IDs include:

  • Valid Alabama Driver’s License – Must be current and not expired for more than 60 days
  • Alabama Law Enforcement Agency digital driver's license
  • Valid Alabama Non-Driver ID – Must be current and not expired for more than 60 days
  • Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Digital Non-Driver ID
  • Valid Alabama photo voter ID card
  • Valid state-issued ID (Alabama or other state)

  • Valid AL Department of Corrections Clearance – Temporary ID (photo required)
  • Valid AL Movement/Booking Form from Jail/Jail System (Photo Required)
  • Valid firearms license (photo required)
  • Valid ID issued by the federal government
  • Valid US passport
  • Valid employee identification card from the Federal Government, State of Alabama, county, municipality, board or other entity of this state
  • Valid student or employee ID from a public or private college or university in the state of Alabama (including postgraduate technical or vocational schools)
  • Digital student ID card from a public or private college or university in the state of Alabama (including postgraduate technical or vocational schools)
  • Valid student or employee ID card issued by a public university in another state
  • Digital student ID card issued by a public university in another state
  • Valid military ID
  • Valid tribal ID
