CNN's Van Jones and Scott Jennings react to the viral Trump clip

CNN's Van Jones I lost it because of a clip of the former president Donald Trump over the weekend — which he said shows Trump “knocking down a microphone.”

Jones subsequently responded in a panel discussion on CNN's NewsNight program on Sunday Abby Phillip showed the footage of Trump – which she described as “obscene”. Jones expressed anger over the clip, saying it showed that Trump might not want to win the election.

“Could it be that he doesn’t actually want to be president?” Jones said – with a laugh. “Wouldn’t it be interesting if it turned out that he was doing everything he could to avoid becoming president!” And in the end he still wins?! Because you can't tell me that blowing a mic for any reason is in everyone's playbook! Am I wrong?!”

But the panel's Republican analyst, Scott Jennings, questioned Jones' account of the footage.

“Did he do that?” Jennings asked. “Are we sure about this?”

The reaction angered Jones.

“If we had to ask two days before the election whether the president dropped a microphone or not, we might have lost track!” Jones said.

Then Jennings started trying to turn the ball over.

“Look, he’s known for being very, very picky about the microphones and the sound,” Jennings said.

“What do you think he did?!” Phillip asked.

“He obviously complained that the thing was too short,” Jennings replied – while Jones laughed again.
