4 dead in unrelated weekend shooting, stabbing in Hillsborough

A fatal shooting at a Riverview Waffle House, a fatal stabbing at a Carrollwood apartment complex and a murder-suicide in Tampa marked a violent weekend in Hillsborough County.

Four people were killed in unrelated incidents across the county on Saturday and Sunday.

Man fatally shot at Waffle House in Riverview

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal shooting Saturday at a Waffle House in Riverview.

According to a news release, dispatchers received a call just after 3 a.m. about a shooting at the restaurant at 10041 US Highway 301 S.

Officers found 60-year-old Robert Brunson with a gunshot wound to his upper body. Brunson died at the scene.

Investigators learned that Brunson and a suspect got into a verbal argument before the suspect shot him.

There were no arrests.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the sheriff's office at 813-247-8000.

Husband kills wife and then himself in Tampa

The sheriff's office is also investigating a murder-suicide in Tampa that occurred Friday evening.

According to a news release, officers responded to the 2800 block of Cedaridge Drive around 9 p.m. Friday after receiving reports of a missing woman.

Investigators found 28-year-old Waleska Gomez Barroeta dead around midnight in a vehicle parked at 815 Water Street in downtown Tampa.

Her husband, Franklin Vegas Delgado, 31, called a relative and said he had killed his wife, officials said. Vegas Delgado left the parking lot where Barroeta was found on foot after abandoning the car.

Investigators found Vegas Delgado dead with self-inflicted wounds at the Marriott Waterside Hotel at 505 Water Street in Tampa at 1:20 a.m. Saturday, according to the news release.

Suspect, 24, arrested on murder charges in fatal stabbing in Carrollwood

Sheriff's deputies have arrested a man accused of fatally stabbing another man at a Carrollwood apartment complex on Sunday.

Michael Aldana, 24, is charged with first-degree murder with a weapon.

According to a news release from the sheriff's office, dispatchers received multiple calls around 2 a.m. Sunday reporting a stabbing at the Northgreen at Carrollwood Apartments, 3831 Northgreen Ave. in Tampa, was reported.

When officers arrived, they found 19-year-old Arnold Gutierrez with apparent stab wounds. Gutierrez was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators said an argument between the two men escalated into a physical altercation in which Aldana stabbed Gutierrez multiple times, the release said.

Aldana was being held without bail in the Hillsborough County Jail on Monday, records show.
