SCVNews.com | COC Men's XC placed ninth at the Mt. SAC Invitational

The College of the Canyons men's cross country competed at the annual Mt. San Antonio College Invitational on Friday, Oct. 18, placing ninth in the final heat before the upcoming conference championship meet.

For the third time in as many meets, it was COC sophomore Nathaniel Wilkinson who led the Cougars in the four-mile course. Wilkinson clocked a time of 22:25, placing 22nd in the 150 field.

COC freshman Musa Rahman was next for the Cougars with a time of 22:53.1, good for 37th overall. Nathan Parras ran the course in a time of 23:10.2 and finished the day in 46th place.

Montell Frye (25:56.0/99.) and Raul Rosas (31:27/0/137.) rounded out the Cougar lineup on a day when the Canyons team was not included in its regular seven-man squad.

Host Mt. SAC (25) won the meet, followed by Hartnell College (64) and El Camino College (98) in the top three spots.

Canyons finished third among the four competing Western State Conference (WSC) programs, ahead of Glendale (4th/140), Santa Monica (7th/206), COC and Oxnard (10th/248), which are included in that category were.

COC's women's team did not participate in the event.

The Cougars will next compete at the WSC Championships, held at Oxnard College on Friday, October 25th at 1:00 p.m., with the goal of qualifying for the 3C2A Southern California Regional Championships on November 8th.
