Person shot dead in police drug raid in Rocky Mount

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WITN) – Shots were fired during a drug raid in Rocky Mount this morning, according to police.

According to police, this happened around 8:15 a.m. in the 1700 block of Windsor Street when drug investigators served a search warrant for the home.

The shooting is being treated as an officer-involved shooting. According to police, the person struck by gunfire suffered what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

No officers were injured and police say the SBI will now take over the investigation into the shooting.
