Police review videos showing officers hitting fans at Georgia-Florida game | College football

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is reviewing online videos showing police officers beating fans during Saturday's Florida-Georgia game at EverBank Stadium.

Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan said she spoke with Sheriff TK Waters about altercations at the rivalry game called “The World's Greatest Outdoor Cocktail Party.”

“I am aware of several disturbing videos circulating [Saturday’s] Game,” Deegan posted on X on Sunday. “We are awaiting the outcome of this investigation.”

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said Sunday it would not comment until the review is complete.

“The Professional Standards Division of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is aware of videos circulating of the Georgia-Florida football game. Administrative reviews of the incidents are underway. Therefore, the agency will not comment until all facts are known and reviews are completed,” the office said.

A video shows officers fighting with two spectators in the stands. Surrounding fans could be heard yelling at officers to stop.

A second video shows an argument between a man and two JSO officers escalating into a fight, leaving the man with a bloody face and bound hands after being shot repeatedly with a stun gun. None of the videos showed circumstances leading up to the altercations.
