City imposes daily fine on Taipei Dome if leaks are not fixed | Taiwan News

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The city of Taipei issued a strongly worded statement on Thursday (October 24) warning the operator of the Taipei Dome that it will be fined daily if the leaks are not fixed by the end of October.

The Taipei City Sports Department said there have been water leaks in various areas of the stadium since December 2023, impacting event organizers and ticket-buying audiences. per CNA. It is regrettable that the stadium operator Farglory Group, whose core business is construction, has not yet managed to solve the problem of water leaks.

The athletic department accused Farglory of being “passive and evasive” on the matter. It said the company failed to provide adequate explanations for the leaks or provide plans to address the problem.

The athletic department said Farglory has since committed to fixing the leaks by Oct. 31. It said the company would be fined NT$100,000 per day (US$3,120) up to NT$7 million if it fails to meet this deadline.

The sports department said At the end of September, the leaks must be fixed by “the end of October,” but there was no mention of financial penalties at the time.

Farglory's response to the leaks will also be included in an annual operational review, the athletic department said. It states that the operator's contract will be terminated if it achieves a low score in two consecutive years.

The athletic department also reminded the company that it must consult with the city government before renting any of the venue's 18 spectator boxes. It said the boxes were not privately owned by Farglory and called on the company to make the rental system public.

The athletic department stressed that it will not allow Farglory to violate the law and will continue to conduct checks and inspections of the venue.
