Miami-Dade man is charged with attempted murder for stabbing a man in a “dispute over property.”

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Florida. — Miami-Dade police arrested a 62-year-old man on attempted murder and other charges after they said a “verbal dispute over property” escalated into a stabbing.

According to police, the crime occurred shortly after 7 p.m. on Friday.

The exact location of the incident was redacted from a Miami-Dade Police Department arrest report, but a ZIP code included in it indicates it occurred at a home in an unincorporated area west of Miami Gardens.

According to police, Juan Carlos Paulino stabbed the victim four times in the shoulder and torso areas, “resulting in a puncture of the colon.”

Authorities said the victim fled and Paulino followed him with a knife in his hand.

Police said Paulino then went back into the house and “hid the knife between clothes bags.”

Still, police said they found and confiscated the knife, but not before Paulino “barricaded himself” and ignored orders to surrender.

Police said Paulino eventually surrendered and was taken into custody without incident.

As of Monday afternoon, Paulino was being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault with serious bodily injury, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, tampering with evidence and resisting arrest without violence.
