An accident in Farmington kills a pedestrian on Main Street

FARMINGTON – Police are investigating a collision that killed a pedestrian Monday morning on Main Street near Dunkin' Donuts and the Farmington Post Office.

The Maine State Police and Farmington Fire Department are also on scene. The latter carries out traffic control.

The pedestrian died at the scene of the accident.

Following the accident around 10:30 a.m., a community alert was sent out to alert people that Main Street was temporarily closed.

It also alerted people that there will be more traffic on South Street in front of the University of Maine at the Farmington Olsen Student Center and on High Street in front of Purington and Mallett halls while traffic is being rerouted.

People are asked to exercise extra caution when crossing streets.
