Elon Musk's mother says she is “relieved” after breaking away from the “malicious and dishonest” Democratic Party

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk's mother, Maye Musk, said Thursday that after switching from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party, she is relieved to no longer belong to a party that some consider “malicious and dishonest.”

Maye was a guest on FOX Business Channel's “The Bottom Line” on Thursday, where she was asked about the driving force that made her become more conservative.

“When I became a U.S. citizen, of course I was a Democrat because they give you that opportunity and because they are the good, kind people who care about America,” Maye told the hosts, explaining that they watch CNN and MSNBC and would read the New York Times, which portrayed the Republicans as terrible. “But they also said Elon was terrible, and I wondered: Why are they lying about Elon?

“They really made me realize that they just didn’t know what they were doing,” she said. “Then when I left the Democrats, I was just so relieved that I wasn't part of the party that is now evil and dishonest. And my biggest fear is the fraud they are committing at the voting booths.”

Elon bought Twitter in 2023 before renaming it X. Since then, the platform has become a place where people have the freedom to speak and say whatever they want, as long as it is lawful.

He has also become a big supporter of former President Trump this election cycle.

During the Trump rally at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, Elon announced that he wants to reduce government waste by at least $2 trillion, although not everyone believes that will be possible.

Maye was asked Thursday whether she thought her son could find $2 trillion or even $1.5 trillion in fraud, waste and abuse in the U.S. government.

“I think more than $2 trillion. I think he was just humble. I mean, look what he did with Twitter and X. It’s incredible,” she said. “And then, of course, Tesla was idiotic, and we heard that it was idiotic. SpaceX was idiotic. And how is he now?”

As Musk's mother, she was able to see how he can run his business by attending a full day of meetings at SpaceX and watching the engineers enthusiastically present ideas while also listening to Elon's ideas.

“They have a CEO who listens to them or gives them permission to make changes,” she said. “And the same goes for Tesla.”

However, as Musk continues to be associated with Trump, several publications published articles on Thursday about him and how he turned X into a pro-Trump echo chamber. Maye was asked if she was worried about her son when all these reports come from those who reject his views and make themselves a target.

“I'm always worried about Elon, but remember: Biden is on X. Kamala Harris is on X… all Democrats are on X,” she said. “It’s terrible and as a mother it scares me.”
