State police are warning of possible traffic disruptions ahead of Donald Trump's visit on Monday

The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Troop L – Reading is informing the public of expected traffic delays on Monday, November 4th that will occur throughout the Lehigh Valley and Berks County region as Donald Trump makes a campaign stop at the Santander Arena in Reading .

The performance is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m

State Police advise the public to expect traffic delays and intermittent road closures during the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. in the following areas:

  • Airport Road in Hanover Township
  • State Highway 22 heading west
  • Cedar Crest Blvd
  • Tilghman Street in Allentown
  • State Highway 309
  • I-78 westbound
  • State Route 61 in Berks County (major delays)
  • State Route 222 in Berks County (both directions)
  • State Route 183 in Berks County (both directions)
  • State Highway 12

These traffic disruptions are expected to impact other roads in the area, according to a press release sent out on Sunday.

In addition, the city of Reading has sent out a warning about the affected roads around the arena.

The following road closures will begin at 6 a.m

  • Penn Street between the 600, 700 and 800 blocks
  • Cherry Street between the 600, 700 and 800 blocks
  • North 8th Street and South 8th Street
  • South 6th Street between the 000 and 100 blocks

Prior to the rally's scheduled start time, expected to be around 2 p.m., additional closures will affect Penn Street as follows:

  • Penn Street between the 200, 300, 400 and 500 blocks

To avoid delays, travelers to and from the city should take alternative routes, such as the Bingaman Street Bridge (Lancaster Ave exit or Route 12). Drivers and pedestrians are asked to plan accordingly and follow posted detour routes.

The city sent out a second notice Sunday evening adding portions of Center Avenue to the list of streets that will be closed.
