Now a former board colleague shares his memories of a man who dedicated his life to serving others.

Just a week ago, Schwartz sat with colleagues on the board of the Mukwonago Area School District.

Cheri Winchowky is a former board member. She said the community was in shock after learning Schwartz had died.

“His voice will be greatly missed on the board,” Winchowky said. “For a good man like him, life must be ended this way. It’s just a tragedy.”

FOX6 News asked police for any information that may be related to Schwartz's death. In response, it said two people were found dead in a house in the town of Mukwonago late Friday afternoon.

According to police, a 45-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman died from gunshot wounds. Police said there are currently no signs of forced entry into the home and they are not looking for suspects.

They have not identified the deceased, but tax records indicate Schwartz lived in that home.

Schwartz was also co-owner of Semper Fi Roofing & Exteriors and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

“His company donated to fundraisers, and he was generous,” Winchowky said.

A school district spokesman said Schwartz leaves behind four children, all of whom either graduated from Mukwonago High School or are current students.

Superintendent Joe Koch called Schwartz's death “tragic” and said he “will be greatly missed. We have a strong community and will overcome the loss of Vito together.”

FOX6 News also reached out to Semper Fi for information about Schwartz. The company requested that “no assumptions be made” about Schwartz's death.
