How to track your ballot in Michigan for the 2024 election

play

Election day is Tuesday, November 5th. But millions of voters in Michigan have already cast their ballots thanks to absentee voting and the early voting deadline that ended Sunday.

Michigan is among the states that allow no-reason absentee voting and a nine-day early voting period. If you are one of those who requested a mail-in ballot, completed it, and sent it to your local clerk, you can track the status of the ballot online as follows.

Here's how to track your ballot in Michigan

Michigan voters who have already completed and submitted a mail-in ballot can track its status online to ensure their local clerk's office received it before Election Day.

Voters can find a variety of information, including the status of their absentee ballot, at the online Michigan Voter Information Center at michigan.gov/vote.

Once you're on the website, click on “Your Voter Information,” enter the appropriate information, and verify that your local clerk has received your mail-in ballot.

Where can I return my mail-in ballot?

Absentee ballots can be returned to a local office, a secure drop box, or by mail. However, on Election Day and within two weeks of the election, it is recommended that you drop off your absentee ballot either at your local elections office or at a drop box to avoid delays in mail delivery. Except in the city of Detroit, voters who received a mail-in ballot can also fill it out and bring it to the polling place to drop it off.

Voters can submit their mail-in ballots to a drop box, their local office or, in communities other than Detroit, their precinct until the polls close at 8 p.m. To find a safe drop box location, visit the Michigan Voter Information Center at michigan.gov/vote.
