2024 election updates: Millions voted early as Trump and Harris sprint to the finish line

The intelligence community is sounding the alarm again about a video “fake and amplified” by Russia alleging voter fraud in Arizona – and warning that Russia's activities are likely to be focused on battleground states.

“Since our statement on Friday, the IC has observed foreign adversaries, particularly Russia, conducting additional influence operations to undermine public confidence in the integrity of U.S. elections and fuel divisions among Americans,” the FBI, ODNI and CISA said in a statement Monday evening.

“The IC expects that these activities will increase leading up to Election Day and in the coming weeks, and that foreign influence narratives will be focused on swing states,” officials added in the statement.

According to intelligence agencies, Russia is the “most active threat” in the election.

“Russia-linked influencers in particular are producing videos and creating fake articles to undermine the legitimacy of the election, instill fear among voters about the electoral process, and suggest that Americans are using violence against each other based on political preferences, according to available information “to the IC,” the statement continues.

“These efforts risk inciting violence, including against election officials. We expect that Russian actors will continue to publish fabricated content on these topics leading up to Election Day and in the days and weeks after polls close,” officials said in the statement.

Content bearing the hallmarks of Russian influence includes a video alleging voter fraud in Arizona and an article falsely claiming that U.S. officials in all swing states are planning to commit voter fraud using a variety of tactics such as ballot stuffing and Orchestrate cyber attacks.

CISA said to seek out trusted sources of information — the election officials themselves.
