5 defendants in theft ring against Dollar General in Grand Bay

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The Mobile County Sheriff's Office has arrested five people in connection with an organized theft gang that authorities say targeted a Dollar General store in Grand Bay

Authorities said they made contact on Oct. 10 with a possible organized theft ring operating at the store at 10477 Ramsey Road.

According to MCSO, the store had lost a total of $385,246 worth of inventory since it opened on March 26, 2023. Using hours of surveillance video, investigators identified assistant store manager Brittany Forrest and store employee Calie Kent, as well as three non-employees – Carl Kent, Ophia Gordon and Irial Forrest – as those suspected of being involved in the crime. The MCSO said the three non-employees were family members or friends of the two store employees.

The five were arrested on Thursday.

They are all charged with organized retail theft and are due back in court on Tuesday.

Additional arrests are possible, MCSO said.
