Body language expert says Donald Trump is 'down and apathetic'

As the race for the White House nears its conclusion, former President Trump made a campaign stop in Raleigh, North Carolina on Monday. A body language expert said there were signs Trump was “a very tired man” as he took the stage.

Expert Darren Stanton said Trump showed a “change in his emotions that filtered through his body language,” suggesting he had become “downcast and apathetic.”

Trump's busy schedule for his final day of campaigning included appearances in North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Michigan.

According to Stanton, the “croaky” and “hoarse” tone of Trump's voice, which was “much quieter” than usual, were signs that his campaign had taken a toll on the 78-year-old.

“Trump's voice, we have to remember that he's been around for a long time and that has the potential to influence everyone. However, his demeanor makes him look like a very tired man, even more tired now than he did in the last election campaign a few years ago,” Stanton said.

“His voice is much quieter now, he is not as lively as before. I think this campaign really wore him out.”

Stanton also noted a “lack of bravery, vivacity and passion.”

“I think he is relieved that the election campaign is now coming to an end. He's a tired man and it really wore him out, he seems a little defeated,” Stanton said.

Trump himself said his voice “barely held up” on the final day of his campaign.

“You know, I wanted to get out of here quickly. I’m doing four of those things today,” the Republican candidate said during a rally in North Carolina.

“They’re big and the voice holds up – just barely,” Trump added.

Newsweek the Trump campaign has reached out for comment.

Monday marks the last day of the election campaign for Trump. Both he and his White House rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, have laid out why they are best suited to replace President Joe Biden.

Polls suggest the results could be close. According to the polling average of 538 at the time of writing, Harris was ahead of Trump by just 1.1 points nationally.

The pair are similarly close in the key battleground states that are expected to play a large role in the election outcome.
