Voting begins in the USA. America is choosing between Harris and Trump

Voting for the 2024 US presidential election has begun in America's eastern time zone. New Hampshire is the first state where polling began at 6 am local time (4:30 pm IST). This is the last chance for Americans to vote in the hotly contested 2024 presidential race between Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris, which is hurtling toward an uncertain conclusion.

More than 82 million people have already used early voting to cast their votes for Republican Donald Trump or Democrat Kamala Harris.

The contest witnessed two assassination attempts against Trump, the surprise withdrawal of President Joe Biden and the rapid rise of Harris – even after billions of dollars in spending and months of hectic campaigning, it remained too close to call.

Opinion polls showed the candidates in the final days of the campaign neck-and-neck in each of the seven states expected to determine the winner – Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

The winner may not be known for days if margins in key states remain as slim as expected.
