Kamala Harris vs. Donald Trump

Voters in all 50 states and the District of Columbia will cast their ballots in the presidential contest between Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump. Presidents are elected using the Electoral College, which allocates votes to each state based on the number of House and Senate members who represent the state in Congress. To be elected president, a candidate needs at least 270 Electoral College votes. Most states award all of their electoral college votes to the winner of the state's popular vote. Nebraska and Maine each award two of their Electoral College votes to the winner of the statewide popular vote and one each to the winner in each congressional district. Trump's campaign focus was on the economy, immigration and crime. Since taking over as Democratic standard-bearer after President Joe Biden left office, Harris has argued that she would usher in a new era and has worked to improve the care economy, protect abortion rights and uphold democracy.
