Live results of the 2024 Senate election

Voters in 33 states will cast their ballots to elect one of their two U.S. senators, and voters in Nebraska will vote on both Senate seats. Democrats currently hold a slim majority in the Senate, with 47 Democrats and four independents allied with them. Republicans are trying to gain control of the chamber, a move that would force them to flip just two seats while retaining all of their seats. The GOP believes it has an advantage in this election because of weaker Democrats on the ballot, including Ohio, a conservative state, and Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, all swing states. Republicans are also expected to win the contest in West Virginia, where Joe Manchin decided not to seek re-election. Manchin was a Democrat when he was elected and subsequently registered as an independent.
