Melania Trump reveals her mental health secrets with a new book

As the nation's eyes turn to the outcome of Election Day 2024 this week, her new book reveals how former first lady Melania Trump protects her own mental and psychological health, regardless of the events she is going through.

She is the author of the current #1 New York Times bestseller “Melania.”

The personal memoir gives readers a rare glimpse into her life, from the moment she set foot on American soil as a 26-year-old to the assassination attempt on her husband, former President Donald J. Trump, in Butler, Pennsylvania, last summer .

Whether she's celebrating personal successes or grappling with political chaos, celebrating family triumphs or weathering times of national turmoil, she reveals that she long ago figured out how to stay calm and poised and focus on the Can concentrate on essentials.

“Life circumstances shape you in many ways, often completely beyond your control—your birth, parental influences, and the world in which you grow up,” she writes.

“As an adult, there comes a moment when you take sole responsibility for the life you lead. You must take charge, accept that responsibility and become the architect of your own future.”

For her, she says, that moment came to America and New York City as a person full of “youthful confidence.”

Self-care is “essential”

She states that this confidence is rooted in her upbringing.

“The value of self-care remains a guiding principle in my life.”

Her mother, Amalija Knavs, born in 1945, taught her that “self-care is essential not only to a person's well-being, but also to the ability to effectively care for others,” she writes.

Her mother “instilled this belief in me at a young age, teaching me the importance of taking care of your appearance before venturing out into the world.”

Trump says her mother often told her, “If I don't take care of myself, how will I know how to take care of others?”

“The value of self-care,” she says, “remains a guiding principle in my life.”

“Own identity”

Melania Trump says that as a child she felt a sense of “organization and order” and took a “methodical approach” to all the projects she worked on or was involved in.

Over time, she writes, “I learned that the most important relationship I could maintain, regardless of the circumstances or company I found myself in, was with myself.”

It is important, she says, “to be anchored in your own identity and your own values. I embrace my individuality and confidently go my own way.”

This strength of character carried her through a time when she felt “attacked” because of her appearance and was “perceived as ‘too’ tall and ‘too’ thin.”

She admits it felt like bullying – even though it wasn't described that way decades ago.

Today Trump writes: “I have come to understand that true happiness is not found in material possessions, but in the depths of self-confidence and self-acceptance.”

“To be successful,” she writes, “sometimes you have to be willing to take risks and make difficult decisions.”

She also says, “I value autonomy and believe in allowing people to live according to their desires.”

She writes: “In every relationship, be it as a mother to my son, as a wife to my husband or as a stepmother, I firmly believe in the principle 'Don't control, but communicate!'”

She also writes, “We seem to live in a time where much of our lives are exposed to the public on social media.”

However, she adds, “Some moments in life are meant to be private and don't need to be shared with the world.”

“Every story has made me who I am today.”

She also says, “I have always believed that it is crucial for people to take care of themselves first…We all have the right to live an enjoyable and dignified life.”

Having already served one term as first lady, she noted that she is aware that the role “goes beyond formal duties.” [The] mission [of first lady] is dedicated to cultivating human connections, showing empathy and providing support to those in need.”

Her time in the White House, she says, shaped her perspective and strengthened her “commitment to serving others.”

“Writing my memoir was an amazing journey full of emotional ups and downs,” Trump previously told Fox News Digital about her book. “Every story has made me who I am today.”

She also told Fox News Digital, “Although the process was daunting at times, it was incredibly rewarding and reminded me of my strength and the beauty of sharing my truth.”
