Real Madrid vs AC Milan live updates: Champions League predictions, team news and latest results

There was much debate in Spain about whether games should have been played at the weekend. In the end, only two La Liga games were postponed: Valencia against Real Madrid and Villarreal against Rayo Vallecano.

Diego Simeone was one of those who felt there should have been a complete postponement, something Ancelotti agreed with yesterday.

“I think the whole football world was fully aware of it,” said the Italian. “Nobody wanted to play and that seemed like the right decision. We are not the ones responsible and must respect the decision of those responsible.

“It's very difficult to prepare for a game like this because it's in your head the whole time. What happened was incredible and terrible.

“It's been a difficult week – it's a difficult week because the atmosphere is not normal, but that has nothing to do with the Ballon d'Or that has already taken place and we congratulate the winners… The sadness is not there, but in what is happening here in Spain.”
