The stove remains hot as the Steelers acquire Smith from the Packers

The Pittsburgh Steelers have made another move, acquiring pass rusher Preston Smith from the Green Bay Packers, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapaport.

Smith joins an already top-notch defensive line that includes TJ Watt, Cam Heyward and Alex Highsmith.

The move comes shortly after the Steelers acquired receiver Mike Williams from the New York Jets.

More will follow.

Steelers acquire Williams

The Pittsburgh Steelers are acquiring receiver Mike Williams from the New York Jets in exchange for a fifth-round pick, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Williams signed a one-year, $10 million contract with New York this offseason, but struggled to find his footing in the Aaron Rodgers-led offense, receiving just 12 balls for 166 yards in nine games. He initially trailed Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard on the Jets' wide receiver depth chart and fell even further after Davante Adams was acquired from the Las Vegas Raiders on October 15.

The former seventh overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft is heading to Pittsburgh to join Russell Wilson and the 6-2 Steelers as they continue to push for the AFC North title.

Williams has recorded 321 receptions for 4,972 yards and 31 touchdowns in eight NFL seasons, the first seven of which were spent with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Commanders Land Lattimore

The Washington Commanders are acquiring CB Marshon Lattimore and a 2025 fifth-round pick from the New Orleans Saints in exchange for third-, fourth- and sixth-round picks in next year's draft, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Lattimore, a four-time Pro Bowler, is now in his eighth NFL season after the Saints selected him with the 11th overall pick in 2017.

He joins the first-place Commanders team at 7-2, led by rookie superstar Jayden Daniels.

Lattimore has recorded 326 solo tackles, 15 interceptions and five forced fumbles in 97 career games for the Saints.

Metcalf remains in Seattle

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Seattle Seahawks will not trade star receiver DK Metcalf before the 4:00 p.m. ET trade deadline.

Metcalf, now in his sixth season with the Seahawks, will remain in Seattle as the receiver continues to recover from an MCL sprain he suffered in Week 7.

A second-round pick by Seattle in the 2019 NFL Draft, Metcalf has 407 receptions, 5,900 yards and 46 touchdowns in 89 career games.

Cowboys trade for Mingo

The Dallas Cowboys have acquired wide receiver Jonathan Mingo and a 2025 seventh-round pick from the Carolina Panthers in exchange for a 2025 fourth-rounder, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports.

Mingo, a former second-round pick in 2023, is joining the Cowboys after star CeeDee Lamb suffered an ACL strain in Sunday's loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

Quarterback Dak Prescott was also injured in the contest and is expected to end up on injured reserve.

Mingo has recorded 12 receptions for 121 yards and no touchdowns for the 2-7 Carolina Panthers this season and has struggled to get consistent playing time behind wideouts Xavier Legette, Jalen Coker and David Moore.

The Ole Miss product is the second receiver the Panthers have traded before the deadline, as Dionate Johnson was sent to Baltimore for a fifth-round pick last week.

Bengals acquire Herbert

The Cincinnati Bengals signed running back Khalil Herbert from the Chicago Bears in the second trade of the day.

The Bengals needed a running back after losing Zack Moss indefinitely to a neck injury. A seventh-round pick goes back to Cincinnati as part of the deal.

Herbert was limited in his role with the Bears this season, accumulating 16 yards on eight carries. Last season he had 611 rushing yards and 134 yards receiving.

Cincinnati continues to try to recover from a slow start to the season, improving to 4-5 with a dominant 41-24 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.

Giants listen to offers on Ojulari

The New York Giants are listening to possible trade offers for edge rusher Azeez Ojulari, Diana Russini of the Athletic reports.

The 24-year-old Ojulari has played a larger role in recent weeks with Kayvon Thibodeaux sidelined with a wrist injury. In four games without Thibodeaux, Ojulari has recorded five sacks and 16 total tackles.

He was a second-round pick of the Giants in 2021 and is now in the final year of his rookie contract.

With the Giants at 2-7 following a loss to the Washington Commanders on Sunday, general manager Joe Schoen could look to capitalize on an expiring asset before he becomes eligible for free agency.

Lions add Smith

The Detroit Lions are acquiring Pro Bowl defenseman Za'Darius Smith from the Cleveland Browns, according to multiple reports.

The Lions receive Smith and a seventh-round draft pick in exchange for fifth- and sixth-round draft picks.

Smith has five sacks and 15 tackles in nine games with the Browns this season. He had five and a half sacks in 16 games last season and 10 sacks in 16 games with the Minnesota Vikings in 2022.

The move will help Detroit fill the void left by Aiden Hutchinson's season-ending injury last month.

The Lions are atop the NFC with a 7-1 record and are coming off a 24-14 win over the rival Green Bay Packers.
