“The View's Alyssa Farah Griffin votes for a Democrat for the first time”

Alyssa Farah Griffin, Donald Trump's former White House communications adviser, told her co-hosts at ABC The view Today she elected a Democrat for president for the first time in her life.

The conservative voice of the daytime show said on the show today: “Four years ago today I was in the White House with Donald Trump on election night. I was sitting there next to one of his Cabinet officials when Arizona was called for Joe Biden, and that became increasingly clear [Trump] would love. At that point I believed he deserved to lose that night. I thought he didn't fight to win the election, but I thought the next four years would be for the Republican Party to rebuild itself and become something I could believe in and for them to take on Donald Trump upside down, and that is not the case.

“So this weekend,” she continued, “on Saturday I voted for a Democrat for the first time in my life.”

Griffin's disclosure drew widespread applause from her co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin, as well as the studio audience.

Griffin said her vote was “on loan” to Kamala Harris, adding that while she voted for Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz, the candidates who were not nominated in the ballot voted for Republicans. She said that while she disagrees with some of Harris' policies, she worries about the direction Donald Trump will take the country.

“I’m a Christian, I’m an American and I’m a Republican, in that order,” she said.

“I need someone who is a kind and decent person to bring this country together,” Griffin said. “I don't agree with many of their policies and we can criticize them later, but today is about a better future and I think the best thing for the country and the future of the Republican Party is that Donald Trump loses and that Kamala Harris is elected becomes.”

At the announcement, Behar said, “Good girl!”, while Haines praised Griffin for “voting for a democracy and a constitution.”

Goldberg also commented on today's election, referencing the viral video of Trump handling a microphone in a manner that appeared to suggest an imitation of oral sex. “Yesterday when we showed that part of him with the microphone, it bothered me all day and I couldn't figure out why, and this morning I figured it out. I don't want to hear any more from parents who are worried about what their children are being taught and are afraid of drag queens reading books to their children. If what you saw from him didn’t disgust you enough to protect your children, I don’t want to hear from you anymore.”
