Thomas Müller's picture goes viral as football fans mock the Bayern Munich star after the defeat

Thomas Müller was mocked by football fans online after Bayern Munich were beaten 4-1 by Barcelona in their Champions League match on Wednesday night.

The Catalan titans took the lead in the first minute through Raphinha, with Harry Kane then equalizing for Bayern.

However, Barcelona upped the ante and continued their impressive form under Hansi Flick after two more goals from Raphinha.

Former Bayern star Robert Lewandowski also got the better of his old club to complete the defeat, with the German giants now a shadow of the team that won the entire competition under Flick in 2020.

That year, Bayern memorably defeated Barcelona 8-2.

Muller scored twice on the night and has scored a total of eight goals against the LaLiga side over the course of his career.

At one point in last night's game, the cameras showed Muller sitting dejected on the bench as Barcelona raged.

And fans on social media were quick to stick the knife in the Germany international, who himself has made fun of Barcelona in the past.

“This picture just healed four years of trauma,” were the words of one fan.

A second said: “The moral of the lesson is to always remain humble, Thomas Müller.”

“This new Thomas Müller wallpaper definitely means more to Barça fans than the actual victory,” were the words of a third user.

Another wrote: “Oh Thomas Müller is sad, inject it into my vein.”

To his credit, Müller went forward and spoke to the media after Bayern's narrow defeat.

The veteran blamed the defeat on a lack of self-confidence and said: “It’s obviously not a good feeling.”
