Which 2025 project is associated with Donald Trump? – World

The project consists of a series of detailed policy proposals compiled by hundreds of high-profile conservatives that project participants hope Trump will adopt if elected.

A series of conservative policy proposals known as Project 2025 have become a lightning rod for opponents of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump as they seek to highlight the dangers they say lie in him retaking the White House.

Accordingly ReutersAt its core, Project 2025 is a series of detailed policy proposals compiled by hundreds of high-profile conservatives that project participants hope Trump will adopt if elected. These suggestions are set out in a book of around 900 pages.

Democratic President Joe Biden's campaign previously said the project was evidence that Trump would take a series of authoritarian and far-right measures if elected.

Project participants are also compiling lists of thousands of conservatives who could be installed in politically appointed positions across the government in the first days of the Trump administration.

Behind the scenes, the project's partners are drafting executive orders and regulatory rules that could be used to quickly implement the policies advocated by the project after Trump takes office.

Is it related to the Trump campaign?

Nope.

Trump has tried to distance himself from Project 2025, even though many of his closest political advisers are deeply involved in it.

The project, a collaboration between dozens of conservative organizations, is overseen by the Heritage Foundation, a right-wing think tank. The group is independent of the Trump campaign, a fact that Project 2025 and Trump himself have emphasized.

“I don’t know anything about Project 2025,” Trump said on social media in early July.

But that's not the whole story.

In practice, many of Trump's closest political advisers and those likely to hold high-level positions in his administration are heavily involved in the project.

For example, former Trump administration official Russ Vought played an important role in Project 2025.

He also serves as political director of the Republican National Convention Platform Committee, an appointment approved by the campaign.

What are the main proposals of the project?

Project 2025's policy proposals range from foreign policy to education.

Among other things, Project 2025 proposes enforcing laws making it illegal to ship abortion pills across state lines, criminalizing pornography and dismantling the Department of Education.

The project also advocates for a wholesale repeal of environmental regulations and a crackdown on workplace diversity programs, which the project argues are largely illegal.

The project also envisions a far-reaching expansion of presidential power by increasing the number of political appointments and strengthening the president's authority over the Justice Department.

The latest proposal has spooked many law enforcement officials who say it will undermine the department's ability to conduct investigations without political interference.

Does Trump agree with the project's proposals?

Trump seems to agree with many – but not all – of the proposals.

In practice, his campaign has a small internal policy team, and he tends to discuss local politics only in broad strokes.

Although he has endorsed several proposals that are central to Project 2025, such as the power to radically increase the number of political representatives in government and the abolition of the Ministry of Education, he is opposed to other proposals, such as the introduction of restrictions for abortion pills, disagree.

Why is Project 2025 such a big deal right now?

Project 2025 has been around in some form since early 2023.

But in recent months, the Biden campaign has made a concerted effort to raise voter awareness of Project 2025 and make the project a symbol of the far-right political shift it said would take place in the US if Trump were elected become.

Biden said in early July that “Project 2025 will destroy America,” and his campaign created a webpage dedicated to the project.

The Democratic National Committee announced plans to erect billboards in 10 cities mentioning Project 2025.

A Supreme Court ruling that presidents enjoy broad immunity from prosecution for actions committed while in office has heightened concerns among some Trump opponents that the Project's attempts to bolster presidential power will be particularly dangerous.

The Trump campaign, in turn, expressed increasing anger over the project, repeatedly emphasizing that the project's proposals were separate from the campaign's official policy platform.

In a statement about this ReutersA campaign official accused Democrats of scaremongering and said only the Republicans' official platform and a series of campaign proposals known as Agenda 47 should be considered official.

“Team Biden and the DNC are lying and stoking fear because they have nothing else to offer the American people,” said Danielle Alvarez, a spokeswoman for the campaign.
