Donald Trump has been strongly condemned for his recent violent comments

Former President Donald Trump spewed more divisive, violence-related rhetoric on the campaign trail on Sunday, this time drawing strong backlash for talking about members of the media being shot.

“I have this piece of glass here, but all we really have here is the fake news, right? And to get me, someone would have to sift through the fake news. And that doesn't bother me that much because it doesn't bother me, it doesn't bother me,” Republican presidential candidate Trump said at a rally in Lititz, Pennsylvania.

The comment sparked laughter from the audience.

Trump, who was assassinated at a rally in July, later complained that protective glass installed for his safety meant he didn't look particularly good on television.

A day earlier, Trump used similarly violent imagery when criticizing former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), a vocal critic of his who has supported Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.

Critics called Trump's latest comment in a long line of attacks on the press “cruel” and more. Polls continue to show a neck-and-neck race between Trump and Harris.
