Dana Perino criticizes Harris for not immediately giving up the race

Fox News host Dana Perino criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for not immediately conceding the 2024 election to the former president Donald Trump According to her network's projection, she had lost the race.

Trump was declared the winner in Pennsylvania and is set to become the country's 47th president shortly before 1:30 a.m. ET.

While Fox News waited for Trump to give a victory speech from Florida, Perino argued that Harris should have spoken from Howard University to concede the race. She left the event before the race was called.

Network anchor Bret Baier noted: “Vice President Harris will speak tomorrow and this will be her response to the election results. That's all we have from the Harris team, which is really strange. I mean, from a PR perspective, Dana.”

Perino replied:

Well, I just think it's a shame because I remember John Kerry doing that to George W. Bush in 2004. And you worked so hard. And I know they're disappointed, but you should give in and let your opponent have his election night and leave him – everyone who's with Trump – at Mar a Lago, where are they? You're in Palm Beach. Let her spend her moment without anyone. As I recall, Andy Card had to come in and say, well, we know we've won, but we've got to wait for John Kerry to give in. And then we all had to stroll back the next morning and wait. And you don't get that moment. I don't think it's right.

Baier replied: “That doesn’t mean there won’t be a call. There might be a call tonight, but she won’t be speaking publicly.”

Perino concluded: “If there is a call, they have to make it public and then no one has to hear from her. If I were her, I would do it tonight.”

Trump infamously refused to concede the 2020 race to which he lost Joe Bidena decision that fueled the insurrection by his supporters at the US Capitol in which six people died and more than 100 police officers were injured.
