Hayes, DeLauro, Murphy among Connecticut officials re-elected – NBC Connecticut

Democrats in all five of Connecticut's congressional districts have been re-elected as results continue to come in.

NBC News predicted that former President Donald Trump would win several key battleground states, including Pennsylvania and North Carolina.

Kamala Harris has won projects in Connecticut and NBC News.

Jahana Hayes was re-elected in the hotly contested race for the Fifth Congressional District, NBC News reports.

In a repeat of the Fifth District race in 2022, Hayes secured victory over Republican challenger George Logan.

In 2022, she beat Logan by around 2,000 votes – one of the closest races in the country.

Reps. Rosa DeLauro, Joe Courtney, John Larson and Jim Himes were all expected to win in their respective congressional races.

According to NBC News, Senator Chris Murphy was also re-elected to a third term. The incumbent ran against Republican challenger Matt Corey.

In the 23rd District, Senator Herron Gaston declared victory over Republican challenger Brian Banacowski.

Election Day topics

Some local communities have reported problems with tabulators, including in Ansonia, Greenwich and Torrington, where officials count ballots manually.

Hundreds of people, including a large group of Yale University students, turned out to vote in New Haven that same day. Voters packed City Hall waiting to cast their ballots – some even waited in line for three hours.

The secretary of state's office said Connecticut should receive new tabulators for the 2025 election.
