Hudson man arrested on multiple counts of sexual assault

CITY OF HUDSON – Hudson City Police arrested a 34-year-old Hudson man on four felony counts of sexual abuse of a child under 11 on Wednesday.

On September 7, following a reported domestic incident, police received information that Cristobal Orlando Ascencio-Chacon had allegedly abused young children.

City police contacted the state Child Abuse and Maltreatment Registry and began working with the Columbia County Department of Social Services Child Protective Services Division.

The criminal case was then turned over to the Hudson Police Division of Child Protective Services.

This investigation found that all children were under seven years old at the time of the sexual abuse.

After being arrested by Hudson police, Ascencio-Chacon was arrested by state police on additional charges of sexual abuse and predatory sexual abuse of a child outside the city of Hudson.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Columbia County Jail without bail pending a court appearance at a later date.

Chief Mishanda Franklyn thanked the State Police BCI in Livingston, the DSS – Columbia County Child Protective Unit and the Child Advocacy Center of Columbia County for their cooperation in the investigation during the investigation.
