As the noise surrounding the struggling Chicago Bears continues to grow, wide receiver DJ Moore spoke about a situation in which he walked away from the field with a game still in progress during Sunday's 29-9 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

“Tweaked my ankle,” he told reporters on Wednesday. “I came back because I saw Caleb [Williams] was crawling. My ankle went in and out. I couldn't stop anymore, so my momentum took me out of bounds and then I just walked away. The sound, I hear it, I see it. I really didn't care. It is what it is.

Head coach Matt Eberflus was also asked about the situation on Wednesday and told reporters he believed it was due to a twisted ankle, adding: “I saw that and that was it.”

It is a certain strategy that Moore moves away from the field when he cannot play due to his injury. With Williams still struggling, the quarterback may have quickly thrown it to Moore, not realizing the receiver was struggling.

Still, the game sparked plenty of discussion on social media, particularly among Bears fans frustrated by the team's two straight losses and 4-4 record after a promising 4-2 start.

Moore has only 37 catches for 374 yards and three touchdowns in eight games this season and doesn't appear to have the same chemistry with Williams as he does with Justin Fields. While this is his first year working with the rookie, the 2023 season was his first year working with Fields and he still recorded 96 catches for 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns.

He also publicly advocated for Chicago to bring Fields back in 2024, but the team instead traded the quarterback to the Pittsburgh Steelers and selected Williams No. 1 overall.

“Just reps,” Moore told reporters Wednesday when asked why he and the team’s current signal-caller don’t yet have the same chemistry. “When I got here, Justin had more reps than me and Caleb. It’s just because he’s a rookie quarterback, and Justin wasn’t a rookie quarterback last year.”

Williams also addressed this.

“It’s not in a place we would like it to be,” he said. “Both of us. It's frustrating because you have such a special guy, and it's frustrating for myself not being able to keep up with certain passes, and I know it's frustrating for him… We have to figure it out.”

Things have been going in the wrong direction for Chicago since the Washington Commanders' Hail Mary in Week 8 dropped its record to 4-3 instead of 5-2.

Cornerback Tyrique Stevenson was benched for taunting Washington fans during the game, several players have publicly criticized the coaching staff, Moore's video sparked even more controversy, and the team sits in last place in the NFC North.

Maybe the upcoming game against the 2-7 New England Patriots will help turn things around because the Bears need a win.
