Voters across the country react to Trump's presidential victory: Watch

As the turbulent 2024 election cycle nears its end, millions of Americans across the U.S. woke up this morning to the news of a presidential victory for Donald Trump. Some never fell asleep, preferring to watch the results come in as Trump gave a victory speech around 2:30 a.m. ET and the Associated Press officially called the race at 5:35 a.m

For Trump's supporters, his return to the White House after a 2021 attack on the US Capitol, two impeachment trials, two assassination attempts and a 34-count felony conviction marked a major victory and a sigh of relief after the states in 2020 were panned into the blue.

For Harris supporters, the results were not only a surprise but also a blow that left many wondering what the future holds for democracy and some of the most vulnerable members of the population.

The reactions on both sides were and are violent. Watch scenes from key states here, from cheers in the streets to tearful expressions of shock.

While Trump supporters in several states, particularly deep red states like Florida, took to local bars, streets, homes and campuses to celebrate Trump's victory, Harris voters expressed disappointment, concern and even despair.

“I'm going to go home frustrated and a little confused,” said one Pennsylvania voter, surprised that the state went to Trump by a 50.6% margin despite the concentration of blue voters in Philadelphia.
