Paul George shares his thoughts on the final play against Suns

After being shorthanded through the first five games of the season, the Philadelphia 76ers got some much-needed reinforcements on Monday against the Phoenix Suns. After a bone bruise sustained in the preseason, Paul George was finally able to make his regular season debut with his new team.

Given that he wasn't able to play much in the preseason, George was expected to look rusty in his first official game with the Sixers. Nevertheless, the All-Star forward still looked good in Phoenix. Having him in the lineup gave the shorthanded squad an added boost.

In the final minutes of the game, the Sixers had a chance to secure their second win of the season. However, Kevin Durant had other plans. The former MVP shined down the stretch to keep the Suns going.

Despite an impressive performance from Durant in the fourth quarter, the Sixers trailed by just two points on their final possession. George tried to take matters into his own hands and put a huge bucket in the clutch. He shot back over Grayson Allen, but failed to make him fall.

While speaking to reporters after the game, PG shared his thoughts on what was going through his mind leading up to the final game:

“Bad review. I thought we lost one. I thought when KD made the layup, they set one up.” George said. “Otherwise you try to use the three to win the game instead of the two to draw the game. After seeing it, another stupid piece.

George played 31 minutes in his first regular season game for the Sixers. He finished the night with 15 points, five rebounds and four assists on 4-for-14 shooting.
