Two arrests following multi-vehicle burglary at Nissan Assembly Plant in Franklin County

DECHERD, Tenn. (WSMV) – Multiple car thefts were reported at the Nissan North America Powertrain Assembly Plant Monday morning, according to Decherd Police.

The break-ins occurred around 5 a.m. The plant captured surveillance video of the suspect's vehicle entering the parking lot through the broken gate.

According to police, the suspect parked through several rows of the employee parking lot and checked that the car doors were unlocked, rummaged through the vehicles and stole items.

The suspect's car left the employee parking lot shortly before 7 a.m. Police said the suspect's car had two distinguishing features, including a donut spare and a broken grille.

After police posted photos of the vehicle on the department's Facebook page, officers received information later that evening that the suspect's vehicle had been seen in Cowan.

Police were unable to locate the car Monday evening and Decherd police shared information with Cowan police.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Cowan police chief spotted the vehicle. He arrested three inmates and notified Decherd police.

A handgun in the suspect's car matched the description of a handgun that had been stolen from the employee parking lot.

The backseat passenger, Juan Caraballo, had a holster on his belt and two different calibers of handgun ammunition in his pocket.

The driver, Christopher Dawson Clark, told police he had additional weapons at his home on Hawkins Street. He gave the police permission to search the apartment. Police found additional stolen items there.

Police arrested Clark and Carabello and charged them with multiple counts of vehicle burglary, theft of property and trespassing.

“The investigation is ongoing as items have been recovered that were not previously reported stolen. “Items are still missing,” police said. “If you have any information about these thefts or are a victim who has not yet filed a report, please contact Decherd Police.”
