TPD arrests suspected shooter in September murder at Toledo restaurant

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Officers with TPD have arrested the suspected shooter in a September murder at a Toledo restaurant.

Officers arrested 27-year-old Deonta Mitchell on Wednesday on charges of aggravated assault and murder. Another man who police allege acted as the getaway driver was arrested on the same charges and pleaded not guilty.

According to police, Isiah Pressley was in a crowd at a restaurant on Detroit Avenue on Sept. 14 when shots were fired. He was hit in the face and died in hospital. 13 Action News spoke with his mother who said the senseless violence must stop.

Police allege Smith was the driver who helped the shooter. They say he picked up Mitchell after an argument at the restaurant. After driving around the block, he parked just north of the bar and Mitchell allegedly got out and fired several shots into a crowd of people, hitting Pressley.

The two then fled the scene in their black Dodge Charger.

Mitchell is due in court this morning.
