20-year-old arrested for carrying machine gun on Bronx subway

BRONX (WABC) – A 20-year-old man is charged with bringing a loaded machine gun into a Bronx subway station.

According to police, Abraham Sosa went into the subway tunnel to go to the toilet on Monday afternoon, past a no trespassing sign at Kingsbridge station.

The officers followed him and when they asked him for his identification, he refused to show it and resisted an attempt to arrest him.

During the fight, the machine gun fell out of his backpack.

Charges against Sosa include assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

He told police he had to carry it around because his mother didn't want it in the apartment.

According to police, 25 bullets were also recovered.

Two officers suffered minor injuries.

A 21-year-old man is also accused of interfering with Sosa's arrest and stealing an officer's phone.
