Graduate student at UTSA found dead in probable suicide incident

The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) has confirmed the death of a graduate student, believed to be a suicide. This is the second such incident at the university since May.
In an email to faculty, staff and students, UTSA President Taylor Eighmy informed the campus community of the loss, stating, “It is with a heavy heart that I write to inform you that we have lost a member of our graduate student community. likely by suicide.” He encouraged those affected to seek support and emphasized the availability of 24-hour well-being resources.

The incident occurred on Bauerle Road Garage on the university campus. Police were called to the scene this morning and UTSA later released a social media post confirming the death. “Information is still accumulating,” the post said, warning the community to avoid the area due to ongoing police operations: “Runners, there is police activity near the Bauerle Road Garage. Please avoid the area.”
Details about the incident remain limited as authorities continue their investigation.
