After the election results, Hamas calls on Donald Trump to end the war in Gaza

Palestinian militant group Hamas has issued a statement calling on the new administration of US President-elect Donald Trump to prioritize “ending the war” in Gaza.

The statement comes amid reports that Trump recently advised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to end the military conflict before his inauguration on January 20, following his election victory over Vice President Kamala Harris.

“In light of the initial results showing that Donald Trump has won the US presidential election,” Hamas reacted to the election results and expects Trump to “listen to the voices that have been heard by the US public for more than a year on this topic.” [Israeli] Aggression in the Gaza Strip.”

The Times of Israel reported that Trump's comments calling for an end to the conflict were reportedly first shared with Netanyahu at a meeting at Mar-a-Lago, Trump's Florida resort, in July.

Hamas' statement laid out several specific demands for the U.S. to “seriously commit itself to stopping the war of genocide and aggression against our Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.”

Hamas calls for an end to “military support” for Israel

The militant group also called for an end to “aggression against the brotherly Lebanese people” and called on the US to stop providing “military support and political cover to the Zionist entity.” Hamas also called on the Trump administration to recognize what it calls “the legitimate rights of our people.”
