White woman, 82, arrested on hate crime charges after attacking Hispanic Trump supporters

A white woman was filmed being arrested for a hate crime after she allegedly attacked two Hispanic women because they supported Donald Trump.

The 82-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, was arrested in a Seattle suburb on Tuesday after she allegedly approached MAGA voters Gina Powell and Mary Jennings to ask them why they chose Trump given the color of their skin would support.

“I came up to her and said I wanted to know why you were voting for Trump.” That's the only thing. And. And I said because you're brown-skinned,” the octogenarian told police, according to KOMO News.

No charges were filed against the woman, but a judge found probable cause for a hate crime and two counts of fourth-degree assault.

Powell and Jennings said they were waving Trump flags with a group of the Republican's supporters on a corner in Edmonds when the woman approached them.

“I was just shocked at the presence of mind and she made it clear that it was the color of my skin,” Powell said.

“And then she pushed me, pushed me back and I said, 'Don't touch me.' And then, not even a second later, she punched me right in the jaw.'

Powell told 770 KTTH the woman was particularly upset about her shirt that read, “Pro-God, pro-guns, pro-life, pro-Trump.”

The arrested woman told police that her reaction was to push Powell away and admitted that she put her hand on her chin and pressed on her shoulder, but stressed that it was “not hard.”

Jennings then stepped in to separate the women, saying the white liberal ended up hitting them too.

“I said you have no right to touch anyone and she just said I just did the same thing and she hit me,” Jennings said.

“But she understood, and you know, it made my jaw drop,” Jennings said.

Bodycam footage captured the moments after the altercation as police arrived at the scene and the accused woman gave her statements.

Powell and Jennings say they are physically fine after the altercation, but the experience was emotional for them.

Powell and Jennings are part of a wave of Latino voters who have thrown their support behind Trump in the 2024 campaign.

Compared to his 2020 campaign, which he lost to Joe Biden, Trump saw a 14 percent increase in Hispanic support.

It has long been assumed that Latino voters were more likely to vote Democratic, but in recent elections they have begun to move to the right.

Many of these voters share widespread concerns about immigration and inflation.

Others were also upset that Kamala Harris and Joe Biden insisted on using the progressive term “Latinx” to describe them, according to recent reports.
