Harris speaks to his supporters in a concession speech after Trump's victory

Several world leaders said today they called Trump for the first time after his election victory.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had “an excellent conversation” with Trump and that he “congratulated him on his historic landslide victory.”

“We agreed to maintain close dialogue and advance our cooperation,” Zelensky said on

Vance said that after Russia's ongoing invasion, Ukraine would most likely have to “cede some territory to the Russians” to end the war. Trump and his team have made “America first” and increasing isolationism abroad a key part of their foreign policy pitch.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán also said on X that he had his first phone call with Trump since the election results.

“We have big plans for the future!” he said.

Orbán, a far-right leader whose critics described him as authoritarian, maintained close ties with Trump over the years, even when Trump was out of office.

Separately, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on X that he had called Trump to congratulate him “on his spectacular victory.”

“We look forward to once again working closely together to further strengthen India-US ties in technology, defence, energy, space and several other sectors,” Modi said.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's office said Trudeau congratulated Trump on winning a second term and spoke with him about “their shared interest in safe and reliable supply chains and combating unfair trade practices in the global economy.”

In a statement, Trudeau said the U.S. and Canada have “the most successful partnership in the world.”

“We look forward to working with President-elect Trump and his administration, including on issues such as trade, investment and peace and security on the continent,” he added.

The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the calls.
