Woman arrested after setting fire at WVWC building in Buckhannon

BUCKHANNON, W.Va (WDTV) – A woman was arrested this week after investigators determined she started two fires in a building on the campus of West Virginia Wesleyan College.

Brittany Hurst, 34, of Buckhannon, was arrested for the Oct. 11 fire and charged with two counts of second-degree arson, according to the West Virginia State Fire Marshal's Office.

Officials said Hurst started a fire in two trash cans in different locations in the building.

WVSFMO investigators said the fire was arson in nature.

Hurst is currently being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $500,000 bond.
