Kamala Harris admits and says, “Keep fighting”

Good morning! CEOs congratulate Donald Trump, voters supported Trump – and abortion rights, and Kamala Harris urges supporters to keep fighting. Have a quiet Thursday.

– Keep fighting. Less than 24 hours after the polls closed, Kamala Harris handed the US presidential election to Donald Trump yesterday afternoon.

Compared to 2016, this Trump victory seemed to be accompanied by an air of resignation among his opponents – the shock of Trump's victory has disappeared for those who eight years ago never thought he could be elected to office, but rather through a weariness and Reassessment has replaced where the US is today. At least in this language, there have been few calls for “resistance” and so far no “Pink Pussy Hats.” (Before the election, news coverage showed that many in Gen Z didn't even remember Trump's “grab her by the pussy” video, which was so shocking at the time and was released when the now 22-year-old was 14. ) Trump won the popular vote This time, a different dynamic is emerging than the 2016 impulse to resist minority rule.

But in her concession speech yesterday, Harris mobilized her supporters. “Keep fighting,” she told the crowd at her alma mater Howard University, the historically black school. “While I concede this election, I do not acknowledge the fight that drove this campaign, the fight for freedom, for opportunity, for justice and the dignity of all people, a fight for the ideals at the heart of our nation, the ideals that …” reflect America at its best. This is a fight I will never give up.”

Harris' speech made no mention of the historic nature of her candidacy – there was no reference to the “highest, hardest glass ceiling” – which is consistent with Harris' message during her brief campaign. Instead, the focus was on a peaceful transfer of power – the most important variable in 2020.

Seemingly intentionally, Harris didn't provide much of a finish in this race. Instead, she called on her supporters to “marshal.” [their] Sleeve;” Harris herself is only 60 years old and could continue to work to counteract the effects of the Trump administration. “Never give up,” she said.
