Baton Rouge deputy charged with prison sexual assault | Crime/Police

A former East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office deputy who was fired and arrested after he reportedly beat and pepper-sprayed handcuffed inmates is now accused of multiple sexual assaults on a female inmate, according to a search warrant.

On Oct. 9, an East Baton Rouge Parish Prison investigator received an anonymous tip about a male prison guard who allegedly forced a 22-year-old female inmate to have sexual intercourse with him, the warrant states.

The inmate told investigators that she had been sexually abused by police officer Elijah Lee Christopher, 25. The inmate said Officer Kristi Thornton Scott “orchestrated the assault.”

The inmate claims Scott showed her special treatment and called her “one of their pretty girls.” Scott persuaded the inmate to have sex with Christopher, and in return the inmate received additional food, additional supplies and was placed in trustee status, according to the warrant.

“The victim was threatened that if she did not comply he would be incarcerated and/or face further criminal charges and would not tell anyone about the encounter,” the warrant states.

The inmate, fearing threats and intimidation, told investigators that she had sex with Christopher about eight times between June and July. Scott accompanied her to every encounter, according to the warrant.

Investigators learned that the assaults occurred either in the law library or in the supervisor's office at the women's facility, the warrant states.

The inmate told investigators that as a reward, Christopher promised to put up his family's land as security for their bond and would further reward her by allowing her to use his cellphone to call her family and use FaceTime, they said in the arrest warrant.

Investigators obtained a search warrant and seized Christopher's phone, where they obtained video footage showing Christopher and two other people in the jail committing physical assault against handcuffed inmates while on duty, the search warrant states.

Christopher was arrested in October along with officers Noah Jenkins, 23, and Julius Conner Jr., 25, for allegedly spraying and beating handcuffed inmates. The three were fired from the department before being arrested on charges of official misconduct and simple assault.
