CNN's Scott Jennings' defense of Trump supporters goes viral

“I interpret the results tonight as the revenge of the everyday, working-class American, the anonymous American,” Jennings said at 3:38 a.m. Wednesday on CNN in a clip that was shared widely on social media.

As former President Donald Trump inched closer to the required 270 electoral votes early Wednesday morning, CNN's Anderson Cooper turned to conservative pundit Scott Jennings to weigh in on the projected victory.

Jennings' subsequent response at 3:38 a.m. has since gone viral, as Republicans viewed his comments as the epitome of refuting liberals, with some even naming him Trump's press secretary.

Jennings began by saying Trump's decisive victory was a “commission to do what you promised.”

He continued:

I interpret tonight's results as the revenge of the everyday working class American, the anonymous American who has been beaten down, insulted and condescended to – they are not trash, they are not Nazis, they are just normal people who get up every day and going to work trying to give their children a better life and feeling like they've been told to just shut up when they complain about the things that are hurting them in their own lives.

Jennings also called the election an indictment of the “political information complex,” noting that pre-election storylines included Tony Hinchcliffe's Puerto Rico joke, Liz Cheney's Kamala Harris endorsement, and “women lying to their husbands” about her Voice had no end impact on the result.

“We just ignored the basics,” he said. “Inflation, people’s feeling that they can barely tread water, these were at best the basis of the election.”

end of October, The Washington Post published an in-depth profile of Jennings, a former Trump critic and “former George W. Bush administration staffer and longtime adviser to Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) with a soft Southern accent.”

“While he began his tenure as a 'Sensible Republican' on a network that conservatives accused of liberal bias, Jennings has become something of a MAGA champion,” the said post reported that he “dropped his 'happy warrior' persona and sharply mocked Democrats, who he recently said seem to care more about guys who want to be women than guys who just want to be guys.” .”
