Charlie Cain Jr. is accused of brutally beating his parents arrested in Limestone Co.

LIMESTONE CO., Ala. (WAFF) – A Limestone County man was arrested on numerous charges after he allegedly beat his parents.

A good Samaritan reported an attack in progress on Children St. in Elkmont on Tuesday.

Elkmont Police Chief Donny Johns responded and found an elderly man and woman severely beaten and bleeding.

Charlie Cain Jr., 55, fled from Johns toward the Richard Martin Walking Trail.

Officers began searching for Cain and located him in the woods along the trail, a mile from the crime scene.

An investigator determined that the battered elderly couple were Cain's parents. Cain was taken into custody.

He was accused of the following:

  • Elder Abuse – 1st Degree (No Bond Set)
  • Noble Abuse – 2nd Degree (No Bond Set)
  • Domestic Violence – 3rd Degree – Criminal Mischief (No Bond Set)
  • Violation of Domestic Violence Protection Order (no bail set)
  • Attempting to elude law enforcement (bail set at $2,500)
  • Public intoxication (bond set at $500)
  • Resisting Arrest (Bail set at $1,000)
  • Warrant – DUI (Bond Rate $1,000)

The Protecting Alabama's Elders Act states that a person commits the crime of first-degree elder abuse and neglect if he or she intentionally abuses or neglects an elder and the abuse or neglect causes serious physical injury to the elder. First-degree elder abuse and neglect is a Class A felony. A person commits the felony of second-degree elder abuse if he or she intentionally abuses or neglects an elder and the abuse or neglect results in physical injury to the elder. Second-degree elder abuse and neglect is a Class B felony.
