LaFargeville man charged with child sexual assault and domestic violence

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) – A Jefferson County grand jury has indicted a LaFargeville man on charges of sexual abuse of a child and domestic violence.

State police arrested 35-year-old Robert Bowes on Thursday.

Bowes is accused of:

  • two counts of predatory sexual assault on a child
  • two counts of first-degree sexual conduct against a child
  • First degree sexual abuse
  • Behaving in a way that is harmful to a child under 17 years of age

Police did not release any further details, including when and where the alleged attack took place.

Bowes was also charged in connection with a separate domestic violence case that occurred in June 2024 in the city of Orleans.

He was accused of the following:

  • Serious family offense – more than one crime within 5 years
  • Criminal obstruction of breathing/blood circulation
  • Third degree assault

Bowes is being held in the Jefferson County Jail.
