Colerain man arrested for murder at Dollar General in August

BERTIE COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Deputies say an Eastern Carolina man is behind bars for a murder that occurred at a discount store in August.

In a statement released this evening, the Bertie County Sheriff's Office says Robert Wilson of Colerain has been arrested for the murder of William Johnson.

On August 31, around 9:30 p.m., officers said they were called to the Dollar General in Merry Hill after shots were heard.

When they got there, officers said they found Johnson had been shot multiple times. The 60-year-old Plymouth man died shortly afterwards.

Wilson, 59, was charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was taken to Bertie Martin Prison without bail.
