Charleroi couple charged in death of 14-month-old son

The parents of a 14-month-old Charleroi boy who died in 2023 have been charged in his death, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.

Brooke and Ryan Whitehead, both 32, face multiple charges in the case, the Washington County District Attorney's Office said Wednesday.

Brooke Whitehead is charged with criminal homicide. Ryan Whitehead is charged with child endangerment.

On October 24, 2023, police were called to Prospect Avenue for a report of a child not breathing. The boy was taken to hospital where he died.

District Attorney Jason Walsh said the child died from blunt force trauma to the head, torso and extremities and showed signs of new skull fractures and other long-term fractures.

Preliminary hearings have yet to be scheduled.
